Student Athlete Training Program

Purpose: The Student Athlete Training pilot program was designed to provide a full time certified athletic trainer for SUHSD to help improve sports medicine services offered to students. The ATC will teach classes via the via the Sports Medicine Regional Occupational and Health Pathway program, organize the screening exams, set-up Saturday morning injury clinics and provide on-site evaluations of sports injuries throughout the school year.

Criteria: The SDSMF will give a grant to the Health Pathway program to supplement part of the ATC’s salary. The ATC must submit and mid-year and year-end report the foundation outlining the sports medicine services provided to students in SUHSD.

Goal: Increase the involvement of athletic trainers and sports medicine professionals in the SUHSD athletic program. Provide medical needs for injured athletes at little or no cost. Create awareness and communicate the sports medicine services available to athletes of SUHSD.
